Kazakhstan (Almaty) Cancelled all US Visa Services due to Political Turmoil


The U.S. Consulate General Almaty has announced that it has  temporarily cancelled all routine consular visa services.  

The U.S. government has advised its citizens not to travel to Kazakhstan due to due to civil unrest, in addition to Level 4 for COVID-19.  

A nationwide curfew is currently in place in Kazakhstan from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.  Almaty’s curfew is in place from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.  

Air travel has been restricted due to the closure of the airport in Almaty since January 2.  Transportation by train is still an option.
