236,000 H-1B Petitions Submitted for FY2017, Another Record

USCIS announced today that the agency has received a record number of H-1B visa petitions for FY 2017.  A total of 236,000 petitions have been submitted.  The current immigration policy only allows 65,000 H-1B visas to be issued to foreign workers annually;  an additional 20,000 visa numbers are available for individuals who have earned a graduate degree in the United States.  Many foreign students with U.S. degrees will be forced to return home after failing to secure a visa number.
