U.S. Consulate in Chennai Closed this Week for Visa Appointments

"Visa operations at the U.S. Consulate in Chennai have been suspended this week, including Friday, September 21, 2012.  Please continue to monitor our website for information about our operating status during the week of September 24 – 28, 2012.  If you wish to schedule visa appointments for any day after September 26, 2012, please visit our new website at www.ustraveldocs.com/in.

If you had a visa appointment on Monday (September 17) or Tuesday (September 18), your case will be marked as a "No Show" in the VFS scheduling system and you will be permitted to reschedule another appointment.  Appointments for Thursday (September 20) will be marked as a "No Show" on late Thursday evening and should be available for rescheduling by Friday afternoon.

When possible, we encourage those with an immediate travel need to reschedule their appointments at one of our other visa processing facilities in Hyderabad,
Mumbai, Kolkata, or New Delhi. If you have a legitimate travel emergency, please contact us at chennaiexp@state.gov, and we will do our best to assist you in the
rescheduling of your visa appointment.   We apologize for any inconvenience that this disruption may have caused and thank you for your understanding.

Regards,
Chennai Consular Unit"

Hey. Good to know that it was helpful. Makes me feel better about putting the time in to write it up. :)

As you go through the process, definitely add comments if your experience varies from mine, so that the next person can benefit.
